Who is eligible for Medicare Part D?
If you join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) you must have Medicare Part A or Part B. If you join a Medicare Advantage Plan (MA-PD) you must have Part A and Part B. You must also live in the service area of the Medicare drug plan you want to join.
Note: If you have employer or union coverage, be sure to call you benefits administrator before you make any changes, or before you sign up for any other coverage. If you drop your employer or union coverage, you may not be able to get it back. You also may not be able to drop your employer or union drug coverage without also dropping your employer or union health coverage. If you drop coverage for yourself, you may also have to drop coverage for you spouse and dependants.

An insurance agent can compare plans and enroll you in the plan that best fits your needs quickly and conveniently. Although a valuable resource, Medicare receives high volumes of calls on a daily basis which make for potentially long wait times before they can get to your call. This has a tendency to upset callers and frustrate them about their Medicare needs.
