What Is Part Medicare Part B?
Medicare Part B helps cover medically – necessary services like doctors’ visits, home health services, outpatient care, durable medical equipment and other medical services.
Unlike Medicare Part A, Part B has a premium attached to it and this premium can change based on your income. The standard Part B premium for 2015 is $104.90. If you are single and filed an individual tax return, or married and filed a joint tax return, the following chart will apply:
What is Medicare Part B Deductible & Coinsurance?
The Medicare Part B beneficiary is responsible for the coinsurance once the deductible has been paid. Please see the following chart for current and past Part B deductible and coinsurance amounts.
Which tax return will they use to determine my income?
To determine your income-related monthly adjustment amount, Social Security will look at your tax return from two years ago. For example, in 2015, Social Security will look at your 2013 tax return.
Does Medicare or Social Security charge this amount?
This amount is taken out of your social security check. If you are not receiving social security yet, but are receiving Medicare Part B benefits you will receive a quarterly bill for Part B insurance.
